A Brief Glance at Prithvi Narayan Campus With over 60 years of its history, Prithvi Narayan Campus is one of the best, oldest and largest campuses under Tribhuvan University, and has been striving for finding solutions to global challenges and preparing students for academic leadership in the 21st century.

Located in Pokhara City in the western region of Nepal, the campus was founded on 1 September 1960 (17 Bhadra 2017 B. S.). It was initially named “Prithvi Narayan Inter College” and run by the local community. Started with 13 students and 2 teachers for intermediate education at Kanya School, Nadipur Patan; the college was moved to Bhimkali Patan in Bagar two years later.

On 20th August 1963, the college started the first batch of Bachelor of Arts (BA) accredited by Tribhuvan University. The college was formally incorporated into Tribhuvan University on 1st Shrawan 2030 BS as one of its constituent campuses, changing its status from ‘college to ‘campus’. The campus started its First master’s degree in Economics in 2035 BS. It was followed by MA in Geography the following year. Now, the campus has more than 18 master’s courses in different disciplines.

The campus now has 29 departments and runs more than 34 academic programmers and offers about 500 courses in humanities & social sciences, management, education, law and science. There are 521 faculty members and 92 non-teaching staff who are involved in providing higher education for more than 12,648 students.

Prithvi Narayan Campus places a high priority on creating an environment that enables teaching and non-teaching staff to perform well. The campus highly appreciates the contributions of all its faculty members to the academic promotion to make the campus a top higher education institution.
